Tasks for acceleration 2.

Success and failure of the left. Accelerated change via anti colonial and revolutionary movements in the peripheries but the metropolitan left was never strong enough to shake complicity and confirm or consolidate those transformations such that the old elites clung in and/or adapted. Whether it was du Bois’s general strike or the 1926 one, rosa Luxembourg or the Prague Spring, May 68 or Occupy, the failure to really generalise the strike action and halt the reproduction of labour capacity in the service of capital – the hippies dropping out perhaps came closest, punk too – seems the crucial story of defeat. These defeats then permit the restitution of colonial andcomprador elite control on the accelerated nations too. Defeats that should indicate some harsh lessons for the next wave of struggles.
