Really – wow. I am so impressed, why would anyone bother?
John

I was thinking if there were ways to set up applets that generate pictures of Mao on ever new spam blogger sites – if only to annoy the mechanised censors I guess, and of course slow down this entire automated search system world – which also reminds me, just a few hundred hits to go till we hit 10k on here. No doubt many of them bots rather than real – thanks for stopping by comrades.

  1. We should print you out an award or a certificate to hang in your office or something…

  2. I’ve avoided posting about China and other certain things so my bro. Chris can still read my personal blog in JiuJiang. The NYTimes carried an article recently explaining how the Great Firewall/Google semi-censorship works. Apparently you get more or less uncensored search results but are unable to access certain pages from these results, so in a way it’s a way of seeing quite specifically what it is that you’re not meant to be seeing.

  3. I can only think its appropriate then to mention MAO over and over. Indeed, the idea has been floated that the Centre for Cultural Studies organise a conference on Mao. I think its highly relevant: Mao Mao Mao. Michael Dutton on Mao trinkets, maybe Alberto Toscano on Badiou’s Maoism, Nepal and the Maoist stuggle there, Alpa Shah on India – someone on the Shining Path – the RIM… there is much that can be brought into this – Maude’s enthusiasm has/will kick it all off. Red Salute.

  4. jmHow about Jung Chang on the longterm imprisonment of her Communist father– arrested for expressing in a letter to Mao his concerns about the excesses of the Cultural Revolution etc?

  5. Do you mean to get Chang as a speaker – nah, why give publicity to someone who already has a best seller? Rather, lets get Bob Avakian, whose book From Ike to Mao I’ve just started reading. Very interesting, I think more people should read that one.
