Thank you to the Commissioners for this insightful report! It puts developments here in Australia in a much clearer light. The State Government of Victoria have just effectively privatised the TAFE sector (vocational training) leading to massive fee increases, job losses and lower wages, and now are legislating to remove academics and students from university councils in favour of ‘better qualified’ (ie corporate) interests. RMIT University has called in the obviously not disinterested KPMG to consult on their future in the digital age! So it will be no surprise when they recommend a role for big corporates and private equity in university ‘partnerships’.
